Single Storey Split Level Rear Extension to a Terrace House

We took on this project from the point at which the Clients had gained Planning Permission for a single storey side return extension to a mid terrace house. The extension as originally designed would have created a cramped kitchen room and so we explored the possibility of creating a split level room, taking advantage of the sloped site. This allowed the room to feel bright and spacious. Although the extension is not a wide one, the Clients made the most of the layout by using a set of tall cupboards with built in kitchen appliances on one side to allow space for a kitchen island.
